National Ambulance Sector Office (NASO)
NASO is a joint ACC and Ministry of Health team which was formed in 2008, in response to sector feed back that the Crown Agencies should have a single approach to emergency ambulance related matters. NASO is staffed by both Agencies, and reports jointly to the Minister of Health and Associate Minister for ACC, through the usual Agency structures. NASO was responsible for leading consultation on the New Zealand Ambulance Service Strategy in 2008, and reporting back to the Ministers, with recommendations, following the consultation process. The Strategy was ratified in June 2009, since which time NASO has continued to manage the Emergency Ambulance related contracts for both Agencies, and to facilitate the progressive implementation of the Strategy initiatives. www.naso.govt.nz

The Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust
Established in 1989, the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust has administered a professional air rescue and air ambulance service supported by trained paramedics, rescue teams and ground crew for the treatment and recovery of people needing urgent medical care and attention.
The Trust administers three rescue services : The Westpac Rescue Helicopter based in Christchurch, the Solid Energy Rescue Helicopter based in Greymouth on the West Coast and the New Zealand Flying Doctor Service fixed -wing air ambulance service based at Christchurch Airport.
